Privacy Policy — Ember
Ember has no server. There is no account to create, nowhere for your data to be sent, and the developer cannot see any of it.
What Ember stores, and where
Everything you create — projects, tasks, notes, goals, habits, journal entries, gallery images and settings — is stored in chrome.storage.local, on the machine running Chrome. No copy is kept anywhere else.
Ember does not collect: identity, email address, location, browsing history, usage analytics or crash reports. There is no tracking code, no advertising, and no third-party service embedded in the extension.
The only two cases where data leaves your device — both are off by default
1. Sync across machines (default: OFF)
Enabled by the user in Settings → Sync across machines. When enabled, Ember writes to chrome.storage.sync, Chrome's own built-in sync mechanism. The data travels through Google's servers attached to the Chrome account the user is signed into, exactly the way Chrome syncs bookmarks and passwords.
Ember operates no server of its own in between. It only writes to the storage area Chrome provides; transmission and storage are performed by Chrome and Google under Google's own privacy policy. Turning this off keeps all data on the device.
Because chrome.storage.sync is limited to 100 KB, only the following are synced: projects, open tasks and recently completed tasks, blocked time slots, and preference settings. Gallery images, the archive of old tasks, and local backups are not synced.
2. Google Calendar (default: OFF)
Enabled by the user in Settings → Google Calendar → Connect account. When enabled:
- Ember requests two scopes:
calendar.readonlyandcalendar.events. - The access token is issued and held by Chrome through
chrome.identity. Ember never sees the user's password and does not store the token anywhere outside Chrome-managed memory. - The user's browser calls
https://www.googleapis.comdirectly. There is no intermediary server.
Calendar data is used for exactly three things:
- Displaying meetings in the next 14 days on the Today column and subtracting them from the available-hours budget, so the user does not schedule work on top of busy time.
- Creating calendar events for tasks the user schedules inside Ember.
- Updating or deleting only events Ember itself created — these carry the marker
extendedProperties.private.emberTaskId. Meetings created by the user are read-only to Ember and are never modified or deleted.
Calendar data is not sent anywhere else, not analysed, and not used to train any model.
Users can disconnect in Settings → Google Calendar → Disconnect, or revoke access entirely at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Permissions, and what each is for

The last two deserve a plain statement: Ember does not register any content script that runs on web pages. The Ember bar's code is injected into one tab, at the moment the user presses the shortcut, and it does not scan page content. It reads exactly two things, and only on the user's command: the text the user has selected (to prefill the task input), and the page title and URL when the user clicks “+ This page”. Both stay on the user's device.
Deleting your data
- Settings → Danger → Erase all data — removes everything on that machine.
- Uninstalling the extension — Chrome deletes its storage automatically.
- To keep a copy first: Settings → Backup → Export to file.
Because there is no server, there is nothing to request deletion of from any third party.
Children
Ember is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If the policy changes, this page changes, with the date shown at the top. Any change that would cause data to begin leaving the user's device in a new way will be stated in the extension itself before it takes effect.

Hai chỗ dữ liệu rời khỏi máy bạn — cả hai đều do bạn tự bật
1. Đồng bộ giữa các máy (mặc định TẮT)
Bật ở Cài đặt → Đồng bộ giữa các máy. Khi bật, Ember dùng chrome.storage.sync — cơ chế đồng bộ có sẵn của Chrome. Dữ liệu đi qua máy chủ của Google gắn với tài khoản Chrome bạn đang đăng nhập, đúng như cách Chrome đồng bộ dấu trang và mật khẩu.
Ember không có máy chủ riêng ở giữa. Nó chỉ ghi vào ô lưu trữ mà Chrome cung cấp; việc truyền và giữ dữ liệu do Chrome và Google thực hiện, theo chính sách bảo mật của Google. Tắt mục này là dữ liệu ở nguyên trên máy.
Do giới hạn 100 KB của chrome.storage.sync, phần đi đồng bộ chỉ gồm: dự án, việc đang mở và việc vừa xong gần đây, khung giờ đã chặn, và các lựa chọn trong Cài đặt. Không đi theo: ảnh trong thư viện, kho lưu trữ việc cũ, và các bản sao lưu.
2. Google Calendar (mặc định TẮT)
Bật ở Cài đặt → Google Calendar → Nối tài khoản. Khi bật:
- Ember xin hai quyền: đọc lịch (
calendar.readonly) và quản lý sự kiện (calendar.events). - Mã truy cập do Chrome cấp và giữ qua
chrome.identity. Ember không thấy mật khẩu của bạn và không lưu lại mã đó ở đâu ngoài bộ nhớ do Chrome quản lý. - Trình duyệt của bạn gọi thẳng

Ember dùng dữ liệu lịch để làm đúng ba việc:
- Hiện các cuộc họp trong 14 ngày tới lên cột Hôm nay và trừ chúng vào quỹ giờ, để bạn không xếp việc chồng lên giờ đã bận.
- Tạo sự kiện trên lịch cho những việc bạn tự xếp giờ trong Ember.
- Cập nhật hoặc xoá chỉ những sự kiện do chính Ember tạo ra — chúng mang dấu riêng
extendedProperties.private.emberTaskId. Cuộc họp bạn tự đặt thì Ember chỉ đọc, không bao giờ sửa hay xoá.
Dữ liệu lịch không được gửi đi đâu khác, không được phân tích, không được dùng để huấn luyện bất cứ mô hình nào.
Ngắt bằng Cài đặt → Google Calendar → Ngắt kết nối, hoặc thu hồi hẳn quyền tại myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Hai quyền cuối đáng nói rõ: Ember không cài sẵn mã lên mọi trang web. Đoạn mã của thanh Ember chỉ được tiêm vào đúng tab đang mở, đúng lúc bạn bấm phím tắt, và nó không quét nội dung trang. Nó chỉ lấy đúng hai thứ, và chỉ khi bạn ra lệnh: đoạn chữ bạn đang bôi đen (để điền sẵn vào ô ghi việc), và tiêu đề cùng địa chỉ trang khi bạn bấm nút “+ Trang này”. Cả hai đều nằm lại trên máy bạn.
Xoá dữ liệu
- Cài đặt → Nguy hiểm → Xoá sạch dữ liệu — xoá toàn bộ nội dung trên máy này.
- Gỡ extension khỏi Chrome — Chrome tự xoá ô lưu trữ của nó.
- Muốn giữ lại trước khi xoá: Cài đặt → Sao lưu → Xuất ra tệp.
Vì không có máy chủ nào, không có thứ gì để yêu cầu bên thứ ba xoá hộ.
Trẻ em
Ember không hướng tới trẻ dưới 13 tuổi và không thu thập dữ liệu của bất kỳ ai.
Đổi chính sách
Chính sách đổi thì trang này đổi, kèm ngày ở đầu trang. Nếu có thay đổi nào khiến dữ liệu bắt đầu rời khỏi máy bạn theo cách mới, thay đổi đó sẽ được nói rõ ngay trong app trước khi có hiệu lực.
